The very first stage of quilting...

Volunteers helped each participant developed their own quilt design by first creating concept sketches on graph paper. Inspiration came from a wide variety of fabrics and books including the documentation of The Quilts of Gee's Bend which demonstrate the use bright colors and uniquely bold designs.
